Dance Workshop

A styling class for women, focusing on the body mechanics of Latin dancing. We will touch on hip action, foot and leg work, and arm styling. Plus we will put into practice some fun choreography!

Deep Sport Conditioning (May through October)

This one-hour workout will maximize the benefits of cross training to improve athletic ability and sports perfomance. Working on flexibility, strength and core conditioning, this low impact workout will help improve balance, strengthen muscles, reduce joint pain and increase range of motion in some joints. Great for runners and anyone wanting an excellent toning class.

Deeper Concentration: Meditation for Peacefulness

Concentration within the mind of physical yoga begins to reveal how the mind can move through the body with control and ultimately thoughts resolve into a silent heart transfixed by the gratitude for life.  Experience love for life itself and endless gratitude.

Dirty Thirty

Dirty Thirty is a simple, effective, Tabata-style cardio workout consisting of three 10 minute rounds of exercises utilizing a variety of basic equipment. Get down and dirty in thirty minutes, in this intense (but adaptable) workout designed for men and women of all fitness levels.

Dolomites Hiking Trip Information Session

Find out more about The Houstonian's Dolomites Hiking Trip with Trip Leader Michael Bluestone!  We'll meet in the Club Library where Michael will make a short presentation of the Trip and then be available for Q&A.

Dolphins Swim For Fitness*

Dolphins Swim Team is a fun, low key developmental program that focuses on stroke technique and conditioning for athletes ages 8 to 16. Kids will get a great foundation for entering school and summer swim team programs. Fee based class. 

Double Bag Drills

Two bags are better than one!  Double the fun in this action-packed, drill-based kickboxing class.  Take simple kick and punch drills and put them on 2 bags at once to intensify the moves, add to the fun and provide the ultimate total body workout.

DRENCHED!

A combination of Pilates-based rhythmic movements and cardio kickbox- style kicks and punches that will strengthen the core and improve flexibility while providing a stamina and cardio challenge like no other. You will leave this class DRENCHED!

Drill Max

An intense and athletic cardio class that challenges you in a different way every time you take it! Be prepared to use a variety of ALL cardio & strength equipment.

Dynamic Yoga

Dynamic Water Yoga features 10 combinations that introduce a base move and then progress four times until ending in a yoga posture. This workout encompasses cardio, toning, yoga, stretching and balance.

Early After School Program – 1st to 5th Grade*

Early After School Tennis is a new program for parents that needed an earlier time to have their child enrolled in The Houstonian junior program.   The program is designed to bring youngsters into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. The program is divided for those ages 5th grade and under.
The format works by getting children into the game immediately, and they feel they are part of the fun. They have a more enjoyable experience early on in the learning process and want to stay involved in the game.

Easy Flow Yoga

With traditional yet doable postures, easy sequencing, and slower pacing, this non-athletic practice helps the body remember and maintain its suppleness. Will include a variety of seated, standing and balancing work with a generous helping of mindfulness.

The Bhagavad Gita, often referred to as Gita, is a 700 verse Hindu text written in Sanskrit. Come join Sravana Borkataky-Varma, Ph.D., for a 90-minute talk that includes two 15-minutes meditation practices to provide a glimpse into how an ancient text can be embodied into every moment of everyday life.

En-CORE WORKSHOP III* $30/member

A continued exploration into the holistic concept of core training. The main frame of the three Ps (pain, posture, performance) still dictates the main aspects. Highlight in this third course are the convex and concave shapes of the body and how they generate spring like power in all sports.

EveryBODY Dance

Be entertained as you experience the style and flavor of urban hip-hop in a cardio format. All levels.

Everyday Tai Chi

 
Focus on building overall body strength, coordination, and balance in this beginner-friendly energy-based practice.  The work out combines easy-to-follow, slow-moving, mindful Tai Chi and Qi Gong movements done from a standing position in bare feet or with shoes on.
