David Gill came to the Houstonian via Yonkers Tennis
Center in New York. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, David also spent
8 years in Asia teaching English, test prep courses, and tennis. A fluent
Mandarin speaker, he enjoys using his Chinese language skills with many members
of the Club. His degree and background in education is a helpful asset in
tailoring tennis lessons and communicating feedback with people of different
ages and backgrounds. Although he no longer actively plays tournaments he
always enjoys rallying with students and ratcheting the level up or down to
challenge members. He subscribes to the coaching philosophy, "Nobody
cares what you know until you show them how much you care.”
