As 2021 comes to a close, we are proud to update you on the state of The Houstonian Club. Most of our Members have resumed their typical usage of the Club and our retention rate has returned to our normal and very strong rate of 97.3%. While many health clubs around the United States have suffered catastrophic losses and some have not been able to recover, our company remains strong and our membership is thriving. We are extremely grateful for the support of so many of our wonderful Houstonian Club Members during these very challenging times.
We are also very fortunate to have so many outdoor spaces, which provided exercise options for those concerned with using the indoor facilities. The Houstonian On-Demand video library and the ability for our instructors and trainers to teach and train in-home and remotely was and continues to be a wonderful amenity for many Members. Our owner’s investment in Global Plasma Solutions has been received positively by both our Members and employees as an additional protective measure. We are so grateful for your support during this very complex second phase of our renovation. We are aware of the challenges the current construction presents to our Members and staff, but we are determined to stay on schedule and we are focused on re-opening each of the renovated spaces as quickly as possible upon completion of Phase 2.
Here is what’s on the exciting renovation horizon for our Club:
- Surge, our new Cycle Studio located off the main fitness center, is projected to open in early January of next year.
- Our two new meeting rooms, Monarch and Lantana, complete with outdoor views of our beautiful Butterfly Garden, are scheduled to open in early January 2022.
- Projected for March 2022, the new childcare facilities for ages 6 weeks - 11 years will relocate to their newly refurbished and adjoining window-lined spaces complete with dual check-in and stroller parking.
- Projected for late July 2022 the following spaces will be opening:
- New adult and family indoor/outdoor dining and full bar adjacent to our pool complex
- Grab & Go café proudly serving Starbucks®
- A spacious atrium illuminated by a domed skylight with access to upstairs Performance Zone
- "Shuffle” the card room for social gatherings
- Newly renovated Club Lobbies
- Brand new Member elevators
- A turfed indoor Performance Zone called "the Next Level” adjacent to the main fitness center for additional training and boxing options
- "Elevate,” a premier small group training studio
- Newly renovated and relocated retail space for The Shop at The Houstonian
- All common areas/hallways will be upgraded with new flooring and lighting
A limited number of memberships will be sold at our current pricing until we debut Phase 2 of our renovation. Once these remaining memberships have been sold, our Couple’s membership initiation fees for new incoming Members will increase by $2,000 and Family memberships will increase by $3,000. These initiation fees will not affect current Club Members unless you purchased a membership after January 2015 and you are upgrading from Individual to Couple or Couple to Family.
