Racquet Sports Updates

Kendall, Aimee, Kathryn: Tennis Pros
Red Ball is the first step of our junior tennis program, and these three ladies have been instrumental to its success! With more than 15 years of combined Red Ball coaching experience, they bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow Ball. More importantly, they possess the most valuable skill of all: genuine care for the children they coach. Their commitment to developing young players in a positive, supportive environment makes them an invaluable part of our junior tennis program.

Tennis Tip of the Month: Hand-eye coordination starts without a racquet. Practice throwing and catching with your practice partner or against the wall before a match. This small tip is a fundamental drill that Red Ball coaches use to establish a foundation for success.

The 15-Minute Rule
All racquet sports follow the ‘15-Minute Rule.’ If you have a court reservation or a scheduled lesson and do not arrive within 15 minutes of the start time, the court will be released and given to the next Member waiting. Please cancel reservations you cannot attend ahead of time, so waiting Members have a chance to play- especially during peak times.

This club policy helps ensure that courts are used efficiently and that all Members have a fair opportunity to play.

Request a Tennis, Pickleball, or Padel Lesson:
Fill out the ‘Request a Lesson’ form under the ‘Racquet Sports’ header on the Houstonian app or email Racquetsports@houstonian.com.

US Open Mix Doubles Tournament
Last month, Coach Kendall and Coach Ransom hosted our first US Open Mix Doubles Tournament and Watch Party. We enjoyed hot dogs, sliders, pretzel bites, and the famous US Open drink- the Honey Deuce. We can’t wait to schedule the next tournament!
