One Month. Many Ways to Practice.

September is National Yoga Month, and The Houstonian Yoga Program is celebrating with opportunities to explore the remarkable breadth of yoga.

National Yoga Month began in 2008 as a campaign to highlight yoga’s health benefits and encourage healthy lifestyle choices. At The Houstonian, we embrace September as an opportunity to celebrate those benefits—and the expertise and passions our instructors bring to the program.

Members can choose from more than 20 specialty classes and experiences, including formats not typically found on our regular schedule. Some will take the place of regularly scheduled classes, while others have been added to open times.

Try Inside Flow, bringing breath, movement, and music together; take your practice off the ground with Aerial Yoga; explore healthy movement in Yoga Lab: Knees for Life; or experience Yoga Body or Yoga Power with Hands-On Assists.

September also brings more of what members have been asking for, including several Yin Yoga classes and the return of Yoga on the Meadow. Family Yoga and other specialty offerings round out the month.

After the travel, heat and changing rhythms of summer, September invites us back toward routine—and toward practices that help us move well, breathe well, slow down and feel more at home in our bodies.

Perhaps that is one of yoga’s enduring gifts: there isn’t just one way to practice.

Check the Houstonian app for the complete schedule. Try something new, revisit an old favorite—or simply make a little more room for yoga this September.
