A clean, respectful locker room doesn’t happen by accident, it’s the result of everyone doing their part. Taking a few extra moments to care for the shared space makes a difference for everyone who uses it.
1. Pick Up Towels
It’s common to use towels in front of showers as a mat for your feet, but please don’t leave them behind when you leave. Towels left on the floor quickly create clutter and sanitation issues. If you use a towel this way, please take a moment to pick it up and place it in the designated bin. These small actions add up and help keep the space clean and safe.
2. Dispose of Trash Properly
Water bottles, tissues, cups - these items can pile up fast! Make it a habit to throw away your trash immediately, utilizing the proper trash or the recycling options available. If you have any locker room cleanliness or behavior concerns that you have observed, please bring them to the attention of our managers so we can address them directly. Many of you go the next step and place it in the proper receptacle, for which we are very grateful.
3. Use Towel Bins for Robes and Towels
Used towels and robes should always go in the designated towel bins so they can be properly cleaned and ready for the next use. Keeping used items in lockers can lead to odors, mildew due to moisture, bacteria buildup, and a shortage of availability. Help keep everything fresh and hygienic by placing all used linens where they belong.
4. Keep the Tops of Lockers Clear (No Shoes)
Please do not leave personal items, towels, trash, or shoes on top of lockers. This creates clutter and can pose a fire hazard. Keeping these areas clear helps maintain a safe and organized environment for everyone.
5. No Shaving in Saunas or Steam Rooms
Please do not shave in the dry sauna or steam rooms. This is unsanitary, can clog drains, and impacts the experience for others. Shaving should only be done in a designated sink or shower.
6. Cold Plunge Etiquette (Resident)
Before using the cold plunge, please shower thoroughly and ensure all soap and products are rinsed off. For hygiene and comfort, wearing underwear or a swimsuit is advised.
7. Leave the Space Tidy
A good rule of thumb: leave the space tidy for the next Member. Or better yet, take a moment to straighten your bench, make sure your items are not left behind, or thank an attendant who is working hard to serve our Members. It takes minimal effort but has a big impact.
8. Respect Shared Spaces
Remember that locker rooms are communal. Being mindful of cleanliness shows respect for fellow Members, staff, and anyone else using the facility.
9. Lead by Example
The Houstonian Code of Conduct asks for all Members to treat one another with dignity and respect, and this includes locker room etiquette and adherence to guidelines.
Thank you for helping support our Locker Rooms team and for doing your part to keep this shared space clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
A great locker room culture starts with simple habits. By stepping up in small ways, we create a cleaner, more respectful environment for everyone.
