Pool Safety Can Be FUN!

Safety around the pool can be fun, and it does not have to be complicated to keep our loved ones safe. Pool rules are essential to prevent any age from potentially getting hurt.

How do we do that, you ask? Here are some things to help prevent injuries, accidents, and potential drownings:
  • Learning how to swim is the best defense against potential drowning situations. The Houstonian Club has a variety of swim lessons to choose from, whether in a group setting or private, beginner to advanced. Swim lessons are not just for children and it is never too late for an adult to learn to swim or enhance their techniques with our Swim Instructors and Coaches.
  • Provide close and constant attention to the children you are supervising in or near the water.
  • Stay within an arm’s reach of children and inexperienced swimmers should wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
  • No extended breath-holding as this can quickly lead to drowning.
  • Walk slowly around the pool area as it can be wet and slippery.
  • Too much sun is no fun! Wear sunscreen.

Safety lines are not just for lap swimmers or to identify shallow and deep ends, but also in case a swimmer becomes exhausted so they can grab the line. This will prompt our lifeguards to pull you to safety and administer first aid if needed.

Lifeguards and Parents: We are a team! By enforcing safety rules together, we can make our environment much SAFER and FUN!

At the end of the day, we want you to have a safe and happy experience in and around our pools.
